Anyone can learn how to catch big beautiful trophy fish by following some common sense tips and techniques. It is perhaps that you have never caught a real big fish and you must be wondering why. Most likely, you must have had at least 1 “big fish that just got away” if you have “wasted” quality time in fishing. That happens to everyone, including experienced fishermen who forget to follow some basic rules.

First of all you don’t have to spend a lot of money or travel to exotic locations to catch trophy fish. Practically any pond or lake which is perennial or that has year-round, and has a good depth to support your big fish in the course of both, cold and warm dry months, will definitely keep an excellent number of big and large fish.

1. Make use of Large Real Bait

What can I convey by genuine bait? Well I mean the elements that fish really feed on to survive. Do you cut photographs of foods out of a magazine and consume them? Of course you do not and neither do huge fish. Even though imitation lures do have their context, all they do is imitate Live Bait. And to avoid catching tiny fish, use bait that only huge fish can swallow.

2. An excellent Reel is usually a Must

A quality fishing reel makes all the difference in really landing a large fish. This is one area where it is sensible to commit some funds. When you finally get that trophy fish to gobble up your bait after waiting quite a long time, it will be a shame to lose it simply because of a cheap reel. A great fishing reel has a finely tuned drag that makes it possible for the large fish to run and get exhausted without the need of breaking the line.

3. Use Thin Low-Visibility Line

Trophy fish didn’t get big by becoming stupid! So it helps when the fisherman is smarter compared to the fish. In lakes near the populated regions, fish which have lived for a lengthy time have most likely, noticed several hooks, lines and sinkers. So it does not require a lot to spook a big fish. Make use of the thinnest line possible and also the minimum terminal tackle. Tie the line right towards the hook and make use of the smallest sinker to get the bait to the correct depth.

4. Sharpened Hooks Are Essential

The need to even mention this is proof that trophy fish can be smarter than fishermen. You are able to do every thing else right and get that monster Trout or Walleye to grab your bait. With a pounding heart you wait that important 3 seconds and then pull back again about the fishing rod to sink the hook. The behemoth doubles your rod over and the drag screams as he goes on his very first operation. Suddenly the line goes slack and the fish is gone! What happened is that a cheap or dull hook just pulled right out of his mouth.

5. Patience, Patience, Patience

Now-a-days, “Run and Gun” has become a common practice. You will generally see that in Bass master TV shows and magazines. Just gear up your 250 HP motor boat and go through the lake scaring all the big fish within 200 yards of your motor boat! Yeah that’s perfect for the impatient generation that needs constant stimulus to avoid thinking at all costs. If that’s what you want, you’ve come to the wrong place. Just discover your inner self and catch big, trophy fish if you really want to enjoy the purity and beauty of nature.

Jigging for largemouth bass is a very effective way method to catch largemouth bass. Jigging for bass is especially effective when fishing deep water where a vertical bass bait presentation is essential. Largemouth bass jigs come in all different sizes, shapes, and types and they are typically tipped with a live bait selection. Largemouth bass can be caught by jigging bait fish or a Varity of different bass fishing soft plastics or rubber skirts.

Normally jigging is done by rapidly moving your line in a up and down motion , but when you are jigging for largemouth bass there are many other jigging methods used. A bass jig is a lead head that comes in a varity of different shapes sizes and is painted many different colors. The lead head jig is than tipped with a variety of soft plastics or live bait that is used for bait fishing for largemouth bass. There are a number of types of jigs that are used for bass in different bait fishing situations. You could use a weedless jig to avoid hang ups. One of the most popular jigging method used for bass fishing using a jig head and a rubber or plastic skirt is what is called the “jig and the pig”. This technique is commonly used when bait fishing dense cover for largemouth bass.

If you are fishing deep water for large mouth bass jigging is the preferred method of choice. You can use either a bass jigging spoons tipped with soft plastics or live bait or a football head jig tipped with live bait or soft plastics and rubber skirts it’s your choice. Also vibrating blades on a jigging spoon work exceptionally well in deep water bait fishing presentations. For rocky bottoms go bait fishing for large mouth bass using football ball head jigs dressed with a live crayfish or a artificial soft plastic crayfish imitation. The football head jig is used on rocky bottoms because it won’t getstuck in the rocks as easy. Make use of the weedless option when fishing rocky bottoms for largemouth bass. Use a slider jig set up with a plastic grub or worm, or a live bait such as a nightcrawler or ribbon leech when you are bait fishing for bass over weed tops.

Well that concludes my article about Bass Prop Baits

large mouth bass

No Exit Popup Old School Bass Fishing Secrets Course

Soft plastics ar by far the most popular largemouth bass baits used by bass fisherman nationwide. Soft plastic large mouth bass lures are as close to natural bass baits that you can get. They look and feel like real largemouth bass food when bass hit your bait.

They can be rigged so the hook is imbedded in the plastic so you can fish dense cover, common when you are using Texas bass fishing rigs, or with what is know as a Carolina bass fishing rig, where the hook or hooks are exposed. Carolina large mouth bass fishing rigs are normally fished on a clean bottom, and used in thick cover because of the exposed hooks. The Carolina rig is very enticing to large mouth bass because of how the fishing rig is designed. A slip sinker is attached well up your fishing line and when lowered through the water the soft plastic fishing lure seems to almost float and flutter because it is dropping through the water much slower then the slip sinker which attracts the large month bass.

Another popular way to fish soft plastics is by using a small jig head. This methods of fishing for bass is intended for a very slow largemouth bass bait fishing presentation. Fishing with soft plastic fishing lures and a jig head works great for known largemouth bass habitat locations but is not a good fishing method if you intended to fish news bass fishing waters. Soft plastic bass baits work well in cold water so spring and early summer are the best time of the year to use them. We are going to describe in the last three paragraphs how to make a Texas large mouth bass fishing rig, and a simple Carolina largemouth bass fishing rig.

To make a Texas bass fishing rig you will need the following fishing tackle. Start by pushing the thin tip end of a bullet sinker up your line first, then tie on a offset nightcrawler hook. Next push your soft plastic bass fishing bait on to your offset starting about 3/8” inch from the fat end of the soft plastic bait, and bring the hook out the side. Then twist the hook 180 degrees and push the hook back into the soft plastic bass bait deep enough to almost penetrate the other side but not pushing through.

To make a simple Carolina bass fish rig that has a strait hook you will need to start with the following fishing tackle. You will need a strait bass fishing hook, brass sinker, two way swivel, and a shinny bead. The brass sinker and the glass bead are used to create a “clinking” noise when falling through the water. This noise attracts the largemouth bass. Slide the brass sinker up the line with the pointed end going on first. Next slide the bead up the line., then tie the two way swivel on the line . Next tie on a 12” leader that already has a bass fishing hook attached on one end to the open eye of the two way swivel. Then push a soft plastic bass bait such as what is called aslug about 3/8” from the top of the fat end of the soft plastic bass bait.

I want to thank you for reading my article about Carolina Rig. Have a great day!

One popular largemouth bass bait fishing technique that thousands of bass fisherman use every year is fishing with top water lures and plugs. These bass baits catch largemouth bass by the hundreds every year.

If you are thinking about taking up largemouth bass fishing do not overlook the importance of top water lures and plugs. You won’t regret learning to fish these bass baits once you see a largemouth bass break water on the end of your line you will be hooked for life! When conditions are right large mouth bass are on the feed and will hit top water lures and plugs quite frequently. Water temperatures need to be above 60 degrees farenheight for this to occur. Top water bass plugs work best either late in the evening or early in the morning but they will also strike at top water baits if they are in very heavy cover in the middle of the day.

Some of the most popular top water bass baits include bass buzz baits, snag proof top water imitation frogs bass baits, bass chugger baits, bass stick baits, bass jitter bug baits, and bass prop baits.

Largemouth bass buzz baits have a very large blade that spins and planes water out to both sides of the lure. Buzz baits need to be retrieved slowly and steadily, but do not stop reeling because they will sink. Frogs and soft rubber or plastic rats need to have hooks that are weed less for fishing on top of heavy weed cover.

Stick baits are long, thin plugs that are weighted on the tail end The weighted end gives the top water plug a side to side motion. Prop baits look exactly like stick baits except they either have a propeller on one end or both. You fish bass prop baits by with twitches and then a pause, twitches and then a pause.

Chuggers have a concave or flat face that when you jerk it through eh water it will splash on both sides of the lure. Bass chuggers are typically fished with a series of quick twitches.

Jitterbug largemouth bass bait fishing plugs have a very wide face plate or arm that will make the bass bait wobble and crawl through he water. You will want to fish a jitterbug bass bait by using a slow and a steady retrieve.

There are many popular top water retrieves that work well when fishing top water bass baits. You can use the twitch and pause technique which works best when fishing prop baits and chuggers. Chuggers can also be fished using a series of twitches with no pause in between. To retrieve a bass stick bait hold your rod low then give the bass bait a series of evenly spaced jerks that make the bait’s head swing back and forth through the water. This retrieve is commonly called “ walking the dog”

Many largemouth bass anglers use a variety of sub-surface bass lures on a regular basis. There are three main types of sub – surface plugs that work well when bait fishing for largemouth bass. The three types are crank baits, Minnow baits, and vibrating plugs. All sub – surface plugs are very effective to catch largemouth bass in the summer months when the largemouth bass are active and a faster retrieve works better. Sub – surface plugs are not the best choice when fishing cold water with one exception. Bass crank baits are some time used for cold water bait fishing presentation using a method called the stop and go. Al you need to do to fish the method is cast your bass crank bait out and retrieve it slowly then stop for a second or two, start your slow retrieve again and then stop again. Repeat all the way through your cast and retrieve.

Bass crank baits are probably the most popular of the sub – surface bass plugs used by largemouth bass fisherman. Crank baits typically have a relatively short , deep body and a wide broad lip that cause the bass bait to wobble through he water. If you attach or imbed a rattle into the body you will make these bass sub – surface plugs even more deadly. You can buy largemouth bass fishing crank baits that have preset diving depths. Normally these depths range from as shallow as 2ft to a max of 30 ft. Crank baits usually are only recommended to bait fish for bass in warm water fishing presentations but if you use the slow stop and go retrieve you can use the bass crank baits in cold water they can be quite effective.

are another popular summer time large moth bass bait fishing presentation that is use quit often by bass anglers. Minnow bass baits are typically designed long and slender and have a narrow lip that gives them a wiggle type wobble. Minnow sub – surface bass plugs are typically used where you need a shallow largemouth bass bait fishing presentation. Some minnow sub – surface bass plugs are designed with a very long and narrow lip and are used for deep water bass bait presentations. You can also add weights to these bass lures to go and stay deep. The bass plugs are designed to be negative buoyant so you can add weights to keep them right at the depth you are retrieving even if you stop your retrieve which is a good way to attract curious largemouth bass and entice them to strike your minnow bass plug.

Vibrating sub – surface bass plugs can be fished at any depth because they sink and they are excellent for any back trolling or down rigger trolling where stay at a predetermined depth. These baits are used quite frequently when walleye fishing but they are also quite effective when you are largemouth bass fishing in some bait fishing situations. These sub –surface bass plugs have very tight wiggle pattern that generates vibrations through the water that can be felt by large mouth bass from some distances away. These Bass baits are also a good way to discover new bass fishing habitat because you can cover a lot of water in a shot period of time.
