Click Here To See A Secret Weapon For Crappie Fishing My Friend Discovered In 2004

Yes crappies which go by peculiar names such as calico bass, speckled perch, speckled bass, white perch, pole crappies, strawberry bass, and papermouth can be caught during the coldwater period of fall and early winter. The cold water period typically starts after the water has turned over and the thermocline stratified Also The water temperatures will have dropped below the mid 50 degree mark. Surface water temperatures will be the same as the bottom water temperatures. As the weather continues to get colder the water temperatures at the bottom will be warmer than that at surface. One the water has turned, Coldwater crappie fishing patterns will start to emerge.

Although the papermouth’s metabolism has dropped the cooling envirement has also triggered the speckled basse’s instinct to feed for the upcoming winter months. The crappie may move slow during the cold water period but they will not pass up a good meal if you present a good crappie bait.

To catch crappie in large deeper lakes and reservoirs during the stable coldwater period you will need crappie fishing rigs set up for a deep water crappie fishing presentation. And ideal crappie bait to use during this period is any small invertabrates such as small crayfish. During the cold water period the water turnover sends the the warmest oxinated water to the bottom , and the coldest water goes to the top. Soon after the water turnover period has stabilized all the crappie and the natural forage will they need will seek the deep water area where the waters are warmest.

To fish the a deep water presentation you will need to use a good deep water slip bobber rig with crappie jigs and crappie jigs with safety pin spinners. A excellent coldwater crappie live bait selection to catch crappie would be small crayfish, crappie minnows, fathead minnows or shiners. You can also catch crappie with a deepwater slop bobber rig fished on the bottom using enough weight and a crappie hook tipped with a live small crayfish as your crappie bait. In larger deep lakes and reservoirs you will find calico bass at deep areas off main lake shorelines in 3o to 45ft of water loacated on a soft bottom area. In shallow bowl shapped lakes with little structure, pole crappies may suspend right in the middle of the lake in 20 to 30 ft of water. In any strawberry bass habitat area, calico bass will suspend 5 to 10ft off the bottom. During the stable coldwater period coldwater period you will seldom find paper mouth near the surface.

Well that concludes my article about Crappie Bait. We wish you the best of luck on your next fishing trip!

People in the United States have considered fishing to be one of America’s pastimes for centuries. Of course, it has also been a staple in food supply for just as long. Those who participate in the sport spend a lot of time seeking out fishing locations that provide abundant species and awesome scenery. Red Lake fishing has proven to do just that. Some very tasty fish are found here as well as species that offer a challenging experience.

The lake is located in Beltrami County in the northern part of Minnesota. Its surface area spans nearly 450 square miles, making it the largest freshwater lake within the state. The lake is divided into two nearly equal parts by a peninsula coming from the east. These are named Lower Red Lake and Upper Red Lake.

Some of the best fish for eating are found here. Walleye is probably the most fished for. About 3.5 million walleye are caught in Minnesota annually which equates in weight to about 4 million pounds. Anglers seek out this species not only because of its yummy taste but also because catching the fish makes for quite a challenge. They are elusive and difficult to capture, thus their allure grows.

Walleye is not the only species sportsman seek here. The northern pike is also a popular fish. Though they are one of the fiercest predators in the lake’s waters they do make for an easy catch. Pike are such voracious hunters that they are overwhelmingly tempted to go after fishermen’s baits and lures. Pike average 2-3 pounds in size although some trophies have been awarded to anglers for reeling in a pike over 20 pounds. Some folks feel that pike taste just as good, if not better, than the walleye.

Some other species of fish commonly caught in this lake are the black crappie, the white crappie, the yellow perch, the white sucker, and the lake whitefish. The crappies have the distinction of being the fish most often reeled in by fishermen, with the giant black crappie being the most valued.

Sauger is a relative of the walleye. Sauger, walleye and northern pike season is pretty long, running from early May until late February. Fishers usually have the best luck catching crappie during the springtime as this is spawning season. But a lot of folks also like to try their hands at ice fishing and the crappie is popular in wintertime as well.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) publishes an annual list of fishing tournaments throughout the state. Typically four hundred to six hundred permits a year are granted by the DNR to sponsors of the tourneys. Many are held at Red Lake. Entrant fees can run as low as thirty dollars, while some prizes for the contestants can reach into the tens of thousands of dollars.

Red Lake is a main attraction for sportsmen in Minnesota. People come from all over to check out its serene backdrop and see how they fare against the diverse fish that live here. It is not only considered one of Minnesota’s best fishing experiences but also one of the country’s best.

Get more information about the wonderful fun you will experience with red lake fishing today! The lake is relaxing, and offers an avid fisherman unlimited opportunities to take advantage of the abundance of red lake fishing.

Knife is a symbolic item. If you ever have survival experience in the woods, you will understand how important this tool is to keep you alive. It has long been the tool we rely on a lot to survive living, from the historical to the current modern eras.

Knife can do multiple tasks at once. If you can only choose one tool to be brought into the wild world, it should be knife. Knife support you both during the day and night.

Until around a hundred years ago, people would not go out from their house without a knife in their pocket or other hidden compartment. We see how much they utilize knife in living.

If you wonder why you should bring knife, think of emergency or unexpected situations you did not anticipate before. You can get lost, meet a rival, or meet bad people anytime. You can anticipate the probability better when you have knife in hand.

It is a simple fact that no one knife can have all the features needed. Every knife has its advantages and anyone using a knife will have to make his own decision as to what kind of things are important for him to have on his knife.

First of all, it is good to know more information about what the knife is made of and how it is created.

However, we are not suggesting you to bring knife everywhere in the town since you will just shocked people. Knife is particularly necessary when you go for outdoor activities in the nature, and even more if you spend more than one day for the activity. We are strangers to the nature. Even though beings should live in harmony, we need protection towards what is unanticipated. That is why you should bring knife with you.

In any case, when you are out camping, hiking, fishing or diving you will probably consider buying yourself a knife and you should think about what you need before you even set foot in the shop.

Try and think of the environment you are going to be in as well as your needs. Sometimes someone does need to hunt with his knife, but does not need to prepare the food from the hunted animal. In some cases you will be walking through a jungle and you might want to use the knife to carve your way out of some thick bushes.

If you do your research and spend some time thinking of what you need you will have a better starting point, try and use the internet for information about different kinds of knives.

While it may not be the most exciting job in the world, skinning a deer is important when returning from a hunt or when still actually on the hunt. This information will be handy for that day on which you will need to skin a deer.

First of all, skinning a deer is not that difficult as you imagined before. Deer has protective membranes that separate their skin and muscle tissues, which make it easier for the skinning process.

Before skinning, you should hang the deer down so that the skinning process can be thorough and the meat can be cleaner. Basically, you should do skinning within two hours since the deer died to keep the meat fresh and healthy.

Take a shard knife and stab between the lower leg’s large tendon and bone. Keep focusing on the part and put your finger in to sense the lump.

Once you have found that lump, sever the lower leg at the lower end of the two parts of the double joint. Cut the skin and the tendons here and then snap the deer’s leg over your own leg, using your body’s leverage to break it.

Once the legs are broken, you should make some other openings around the tendon and near the front legs. Keep an opening between the tendon and bone at the lower leg. Just remember to make some openings near the lower leg areas.

At the front legs, you also make openings at around the same parts. After that, get your hand inside the skin near the deer’s lower leg. Slowly but sure, pull the skin off.

Essentially, the pulling of the deer’s skin should work a lot like pulling a tight jacket or pair of blue jeans off. It may be a little bit awkward, but the layer of meat revealed below the skin should be a more than ample reward.

Generally, it takes from 10 to 15 minutes to skin a deer. Otherwise, it can be longer if you are not experienced with the process. Skinning is also tiring. But real hunters just would not want to miss the step.

Those who are serious outdoor enthusiasts know that owning quality hunting knives is an absolute must. Knives for hunting are one of the most basic tools used in the great out of doors when it is time to deal with the game that has been bagged. While knives are used for skinning, gutting and butchering game, they also come in handy for protection against wild animals and for cutting tree branches when it’s time to make camp.

As with any other type of instrument for cutting, hunting and fishing knives must be well cared for and maintained in order to extend their life and to make them as useful as possible. When one is out on a hunting, fishing or camping expedition, it is important to be sure that the fixed blade hunting knives or folding hunting knives that you take along are ready at a moments notice to do their job. This means they should be clean and recently sharpened. In the instance of folding or pocket knives, they should be oiled so that the blade can be accessed easily and quickly.

For those who use their knives for hunting on a daily basis for other purposes, it is a good idea to clean the knife daily or after every use. This helps to keep not only the blade in the best condition possible, but the entire knife as well. If the hunting knife is properly cleaned, then you can see if there are any nicks or damages to the blade.

If you do see that the blade has been nicked, it is important to hone out that area as quickly as possible, and most certainly before using the blade again. This will keep the blade from becoming even more damaged and will also assure that you always have the sharpest cutting edge on your knife at all times. A dull blade can be dangerous to the user, as more pressure is required and in such circumstances the blade is more likely to slip and cause an injury to the user.

Hunt and fish knives typically end up being used to skin, gut and clean animals and fish that has been killed or caught, and as a result they can become very dirty, very quickly. Out in the wild it is not always possible to thoroughly clean a knife that has just been used, but at the very least the blade and handle should be wiped down to remove as much blood and tissue as possible.

Upon returning to camp, it is best to completely wash the knife with soap and water to rid it of any residue and dirt left on the blade and handle. There are also a number of cleaning solutions on the market which can be very useful in keeping the knives for hunting in good condition and which can easily be taken along on your next hunting trip. Visit www.lightsandknives.com/hunting_knife_sharpening.htm for tips on how to maintain your knives in good condition.

Fly fishing is a relaxing and rewarding hobby. Apart from enjoying the experience of fishing you will usually find yourself surrounded by some of the most stunning scenes the planet has to offer.

Fly fishing is a relaxing and rewarding hobby. Apart from enjoying the experience of fishing you will usually find yourself surrounded by some of the most stunning scenes the planet has to offer.

Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to improve your technique there is no better source of help, guidance and information than fly fishing instruction.

1. A Great Return On Your Investment – Fly fishing instruction will give you the confidence to better enjoy your hobby. Having confidence in your technique and ability will also encourage you to go further a field and try more adventurous spots.

There are two ways to learn fly fishing, either an intensive course, or regular lessons. Which ever route you decide to take it is worth thoroughly researching where you take your lessons as you want to use a reputable school as you want to receive a rounded knowledge from the best possible teachers.

2. Importance of casting – Good technique is essential for successful casting. Most fishermen will be happy to share their knowledge and will offer valuable advice to beginners, but this is easier to apply if you already have a solid knowledge.

Successful casting is about being relaxed and having a smooth action. Any jerks will ruin your cast. You should be able to master short casts fairly quickly, longer casts will take more practice.

3. Understanding The Equipment ” A lot can be gleaned from books, but there is nothing like personal advice. Finding the most suitable rod for your level of experience and the corresponding line is much easier if there is someone there to guide you through the options.

There is only so much you can learn from the FAQs of a web site – try asking your instructor.

In short, the best way to get the most from fly fishing is after investing in some instruction.

Manual power poles are great. Whether it’s a manual power pole or an automatic model, the concept is simple. It’s a way to stop your boat where you want and then stay in that exact spot. Any boat 25′ and under could benefit from installing a P. P. Here’s how it works.

A manual power pole is a shallow water anchor. It’s purpose is to stop your boat exactly where you want it to stop, when you want it to stop, and then hold you in place against the current and the wind (up to 30 mph). It works in up to 8′ of water. It allows you to do your thing in the boat, with the secure feeling of being tethered to the bottom.

There’s a lot to choose from online in this shallow water anchor category, spanning a wide range in cost and quality. The concept is simple — stake out your boat to the lake bed, river bed or sea bed. But there are a few different ways to accomplish this mission. Some are slightly tedious while others are totally automatic.

The ‘Cadillac’ of power poles is made by a company that goes by that very name – ‘Power-Pole’. Their slogan is great, Swift and Secure. This $1,600 model is the one used by well financed sport fishermen and, believe me, none of them would be without one of these devices on their boats. It makes fishing not only easier but also more successful. Unfortunately you can’t mount one on the bow of the boat so it can only be deployed heading down stream.

When you’re fishing in shallows and you see a place that looks good, you want to be able to stop on a dime and stay put. The P. P. Is deployed in less than 5 seconds and you’re free to get on with the business at hand, securely in place.

Winds up to 30 miles per hour won’t shake you loose. Your boat will be oblivious to the water currents. You can also forget about the clumsy boat anchor and the noisy trolling motor. The fish don’t like that stuff – it scares them away. The manual power pole doesn’t make ANY loud noises or disturb the bottom where it’s anchored.

Those who’ve experienced the power-pole in action want one and those who already have one wonder how they ever got along without it. A manual power pole is a less expensive alternative. Take a look.

If $1,600 for a POWER POLE ANCHOR seems expensive then take a look at an alternative. Check out Stay Put SHALLOW WATER ANCHORS. It’s a Shallow Water Anchor that is LESS EXPENSIVE than the Power Pole Shallow Water Anchor and Perfect for Flats & Bay Fishing! A shallow water fishing anchor system for all small skiffs, bass boats, flats boats and bay boats.

Peace of mind and relaxation, this is what results from fishing as a leisure activity. Plus, there is always the joy of cooking your own catch. In order to fill the pot, you’ll need some good fishing lures and other items of equipment.

A number of elements influence the choice of the fishing gear. In this article the focus will be placed on the ‘best’ salmon fishing lures, how to choose them and how to use them. Salmon fishing is widely popular. Yet actually catching salmon can be a very tricky and demanding job. Fortunately the variety of salmon fishing lures is endless, so you will always have enough options to suit your purpose.

According to some fishermen, spoons make one of the best salmon fishing lures, whether casting from a fixed position or trolling. These lures may vary in size and color and they can be used regardless of the place where the fishing happens. From this point of view, spoons are very reliable. Normally made of shiny metal, spoons are often hammed for an increased capacity of reflection, thus, attracting salmon more efficiently.

The swimming plug is another example of noteworthy salmon fishing lures. Such items are widely preferred in salmon fishing. The plugs were initially made of different types of wood, and then they were painted to imitate bait fish. However, nowadays high density plastic, shaped in molds is the better choice. Thus, when the salmon does not want to hit the spoon, it will definitely go for the plug. The truth is that salmon are very much attracted by the movement of the lures which resembles the movement of live fish.

Color is an important element to consider when fishing for salmon at sea. Bright and vivid colors are really important in selecting the right salmon fishing lures as they are more effective in attracting salmon to the trolling rig. Besides these lures, live baits like worms, and minnows are also useful in attracting salmon. Live bait is part of traditional fishing, because spoons and plugs have taken its place in modern recreational fishing. Bait rigs make use of a wide range of natural elements such as: worms, herrings, and shrimp, but sometimes, natural baits are used in combination with the spoons which give brightness of metal or paint, thus working together to attract the salmon.

There are two dimensions to fishing, one is commercial and the other hobbyist. Fishing is practiced throughout the year, according to the natural location, the fish mating season and the habitat. Depending on the type of fishing – surface or deep water fishing, and in accordance with the above mentioned factors, the fishing equipment manufacturers have come up with includes a wide range of products. For example, when it comes to salt water fishing, lures have certain peculiarities that make them stand apart from the models designed for fresh water use.

It is important to use the appropriate salt water fishing lures if you want ocean or sea fishing trip to be effective and rewarding. The choice of the most adequate salt water fishing lures could be very difficult and even impossible sometimes. Maybe friends will share some fishing tips with you or, you can go shopping at local fishing stores or check specialized magazines, or the Internet for the right information. Maybe the Internet is the best shopping solution for you as it provides both advice and the possibility to buy.

Anyway it is difficult to identify the best salt water fishing lures because the choice depends on so many factors. The great number of lures available on the market also makes selection problematic. Personal knowledge, budget and personal preferences also work as criteria under the circumstances. Yet there are a number of standard kinds of lures which have passed the test of time.

Among the salt water fishing lures plugs and sinking plugs, spoons and spinners together with surface lures, are among the most widely used. Spoons are very simple lures that give a flicking which, together with their movement attracts the fish; spoons are both cheap and user friendly. For weeded areas and still waters, surface lures work best because of the ease of maneuvering.

Sinking plugs will match deep water fishing, whereas when you fish near the banks, rocks or weed beds, the solution would be the use of suspending plugs.

The echo sounder or fish finder plays a vital part in fishing today, whether you fish for sport or for a living. This piece of marine technology allows fisherman to target their efforts and improve the volume of their catches. There are a variety of electronic fishing guides on the market, each with their own pros and cons, and each suited to certain environments and uses. In this article, we’ll help you choose a portable fish finder designed with your needs in mind.

Portable fish finders are an incredible piece of equipment that can actually help you find fish if used properly. Before the invention of this piece of technology, fishers used a depth finder that only indicated the depth underneath the boat. There was no precise screen showing the presence of schools of fish. Consequently, depth finders were of little use to commercial fisherman. Next there were the sounders with printed graphs rolls that were very accurate if used properly. However, the real breakthrough was the advent of the LCD (liquid crystal display) sounder that showed both bottom contours and fish. Today there is a wide variety of these LCD fish finders.

Picking the right portable fish finder can be difficult because the market pricing is very competitive and products are being updated all the time. Top of the line models can cost more than the average dinghy, yet basic units can be quite affordable and cost as little as $300 from a discount fish finder store. The technology has come a long way since electronic fish finders first appeared on the market. Modern finders are slimmer, lighter and more menu-driven than their predecessors. The display units have both black and white or color display screens and the screens come in a variety of sizes. The bigger screens are better suited to larger fishing boats where they can be kept out of the sun and weather. These are ideal for commercial fishing trawlers.

A portable fish finder is dependant on its transducer housing. This housing contains a man-made crystal called a piezoelectric device. When it receives a signal from the unit it converts it into a mechanical sound wave that is sent down to the bottom below the boat. When this wave encounters an object it rebounds – creating an echo. This echo is bounced from the bottom and back to the transducer, where it’s decoded and sent to the display unit as incoming signals. These sound waves not only bounce from the bottom but from any object encountered between the transducer and the bottom. This includes fish, schools of bait, weeds and underwater structures. This sounding process is continuous, even when the boat is moving. As the moving sound wave travels forward, the signals of everything it encounters are sent back as amazingly clear pictures.

The effectiveness of your portable fish finder will be contingent on correct mounting. Most units come with detailed instructions but if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself, then don’t hesitate to get some help. The actual fitting is quite a simple operation and only requires an electric drill and few basic tools. Problems with fish finders normally can be traced directly back to the wrong type of transducer, or simply poor installation. If you aren’t sure what model to buy or how much money to spend, speak to companies that supply fishing gear and get their advice. They’ll be able to help you choose the right piece of equipment for you.
